Director: Natasch Breuers & Ralf Jesse | Producer: Benno Friebe
Focus Years: 2008 | Country: Germany
Synopsis:
The brothers Neves (13), Celso (10) and Eduine (9) from Angola, Mamadou (16) from Guinea and the two sisters Nora (13) and Otilya from the Republic of Congo are only “tolerated†in Germany. According to German immigration law, they are threatened with deportation, as soon as they reach the age of 16. They all came alone without their parents, hoping to find shelter. The documentary follows the kids for two years and depicts their struggle with the laws that don’t fit their cases. Above all, the movie shows how they discover a foreign country, how they turn a foreign language and culture into their own and how they start to feel at home in Germany.
